02.16.2008Dramatic Monologue
I just got back from another successful run. Something about the air out here makes running ever more enjoyable. I think today may be the closest I’ve ever come to a runner’s high, EVER. My favorite route to take now is to go north on Huntingdon, the road Westfield is on. It’s busy for awhile, but once you get almost 2 miles out, there’s a little footpath that veers off to the right and goes through this little field. There’s little fences on either side. It’s quaint. And then I crossed the highway via a footbridge, and then on the other side it’s even better, because there’s MORE little footpaths and there’s trees and fields and little birds. And there’s a fenced in little field that’s open to the public where there are all these furrows dug into the ground, and it’s where the Romans were draining the field. And then the sun was setting OVER the field, and it was wonderful. And the field smelled like hay. Then while I was running back I saw Tutor Humann walking on the path, and that was pretty crazy.
I felt decent all the way home, which is unusual because usually I feel like I might die at any given moment. So I was having a wonderful time and I was about 200 yards away from Westfield, and I dropped my cd player and it broke hardcore. That’s a real end of an era, because I’ve had that thing since my sophomore year of high school. My dad bought it for me at Wal-mart before I went on the Concordia Pilgrimage with Guardian (and that trip, incidentally, was one of the greatest experiences of my high school career). So I don’t think I’ll throw it out. I think I’ll keep it. And I guess I’ll have to run without music, which makes everything a bit more bleak.
Nevertheless, I think it was a decent afternoon.

Now you can buy an iPod
